Splendid wine tent with groovy music: party until 1am!
No festival beer, but wheat beer (until 9 pm) and a large selection of wines. A popular address for party-goers and celebrities late at night.
The speciality: Wine, prosecco and partying until 1 a.m.
It doesn't always have to be just beer at the Wiesn. The wine tent offers a large selection of wines, sparkling wine or prosecco and champagne. And thanks to the rustic wood panelling, visitors feel like they are in a Franconian vineyard. Because here you sit on comfortable corner benches in cosy wooden boxes. This makes it easy to party into the night with live music, while most of the other tents have already closed.
The history: Wine bar since 1885, 40 years of Kuffler
A wine tent at the biggest beer festival in the world? That's anything but a novelty. The good drop has had a firm place at the Wiesn since 1885. Originally there were smaller bodegas and wine stands. In 1984, Roland Kuffler and his then partner Dr Erich Kaub from the Nymphenburg Sektkellerei took over a tent in which only wine was served: its name is ‘Zum Wein-Wirt’. In 1999, the Kufflers take over the marquee from Nymphenburg Sekt/Schloss Wachenheim. This is followed by the name change to ‘Kufflers Weinzelt’ and the construction of the new festival hall in 2005 with 500 additional seats. Stephan Kuffler has been responsible for operations management since 1994 and is officially appointed Wiesnwirt in 2000; his brother Sebastian Kuffler is given the honour in 2022.
The audience: regulars and celebrities
From 9 pm, only wine and sparkling wine/champagne are served. And this is when the atmosphere gets particularly lively. After all, many regulars party here until after midnight - when other tents have long since closed. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, you should visit the wine tent in the afternoon. Then everyone will find a cosy spot on the comfortable corner benches. The Weinzelt is a favourite with Munich's celebrities: probably also because the atmosphere here is a little more dignified and the tent is somewhat smaller.
The music: The Blechblos'n have been rocking the tent since 1994
No traditional brass band music is played in the wine tent. Instead, the bands' thoroughbred musicians strike the right note at any time. And even until after midnight. A total of five bands take it in turns to provide the right atmosphere from midday throughout the week. And when Blechblos'n take over in the afternoon from 4 p.m. at the latest, none of the guests will be able to sit still. After all, the Munich band has been rocking the wine tent since 1994.
The menu: from knuckle of pork to fish and Asian specialities
Of course, guests don't just come to the wine tent for the wine, prosecco and exuberant atmosphere. Gourmets also look forward to the extensive menu. And its culinary variety is hard to beat. It combines the highlights from the various Kuffler restaurants in Munich: Bavarian specialities from the Haxnbauer, fish dishes from the Seehaus in the English Garden and exotic dishes such as prawns from the Mangostin Asia restaurants.
For insiders: a piece of jewellery at the Wiesn
In terms of interior design, the wine tent is a real gem at the Wiesn. The rustic wood panelling is made from wood that is over a hundred years old.The interior of the tent was redecorated in 2015.Instead of cloths hanging parallel to the roof, wreaths of flowers and wine tent flags now fill the interior of the wine tent.In addition to the tent canvas, Kuffler's long-standing architect, Dipl Ing Gerhard Zobler, replaced all the tables and benches at the back of the tent and the wooden floor of all the walkways in 2024.
