Booking at the Oktoberfest: Book a table at the Oktoberfest 2025

Wiesntisch: Reservation in the large and small tents

To the Wiesn and the beer tent without a reservation? The good news is that some of the tables in the large Oktoberfest tents are kept free for spontaneous visitors. In the evening and in groups, however, it is quite possible that you won't be able to get a seat - or won't be able to get into the tent at all because it is closed due to overcrowding. Our FAQs on the subject of Oktoberfest reservations for Oktoberfest 2025 from 20 September to 5 October.

The official online portal of the Wiesn hosts

In 2023, for the first time, there were online portals of the hosts where unused reservations could be exchanged or sold at the original price. Regardless of the reason why you want to give up your reserved table - be it a clash of dates, a change in plans or other reasons - the sales process is made as smooth as possible here.
Secure transaction processing ensures that both the seller and the buyer are protected. An important step in pushing back the grey market, where thousands of euros were often demanded for a table. 21 medium-sized and large catering establishments have opted for the Oktoberfest-Booking.com portal as their solution. This is also where you will be informed as soon as there are reservations available in the festival tents for the Oktoberfest.

Frequently asked questions about table reservations at the Oktoberfest

There is no compulsory menu when reserving a table in the festival halls. The minimum consumption in the main aisles of the tents is usually two pints of beer and half a roast chicken. In the pits and galleries, a consumption voucher of 18 euros is added. There are special rules for the Käfer Wiesn pub and the wine tent.

For most beer tents, the reservation option for Oktoberfest 2025 will be activated by spring, at the latest in April or May - the festival hosts will inform you about the start on their websites. Please don't call or email shortly after the Oktoberfest, it won't help.

Basically not. Entry to the beer tents is free of charge. A quarter of the seats in the big tents may not even be reserved. At weekends and on public holidays, half of all seats are exempt from reservation until 3 p.m., after that 35 per cent are still exempt. The Käfer Wiesn-Schänke and Kufflers Weinzelt - and the small tents - are exempt from this rule. By the way, reservations can only be made inside the tents, not in the beer gardens.

There is no central reservation centre. Table reservations are always made via the respective tent. Even in most of the smaller Wiesn tents, you can and should book in good time, especially if there are several of you and you want to go to Oktoberfest in the evening. Reservations are usually made online, sometimes also by telephone.

The consumption vouchers for the festival tents remain valid for the duration of Oktoberfest 2024. In addition, it is possible to redeem unused vouchers in full in the restaurants of the Wiesn caterers until at least 31 October 2024 or to receive a full refund of the voucher amount. The respective festival caterers will provide information on the exact options for redeeming vouchers after the Wiesn.

Since 2015, there has been a special regulation for Munich residents at the Wiesn: in the large tents, on the weekend and on German Unity Day (3 October), the landlords are allowed to give an additional 15 percent of the seats that cannot actually be reserved to Munich residents. If you are interested, you must have your main residence in Munich and present your identity card in person to the respective landlord before the Wiesn, usually from June. There is no minimum consumption here, but most landlords charge a small processing fee. Information on this can be found on the websites of the festival landlords.

Reservations may not be resold - if this does happen, the hosts usually notice and cancel these reservations. For this reason, please do not under any circumstances ‘purchase’ table reservations at Internet auctions or from any other source than directly from the respective festival host of the desired tent. Alternatively, you can use the official resale portal.

The reservation itself is free of charge - just like a visit to the Wiesn and the beer tents. However, you have to buy and pay for vouchers in advance, which are tokens, for example for two litres of beer and half a chicken per person.

‘One Oktoberfest for two, please’ - that's not possible at the Oktoberfest. Socialising is a top priority and reservations are only accepted by the table, with eight to ten people sitting at one table. The vouchers for a table cost an average of around 350 euros, although in some tents it can be more.

Yes, Munich Tourism offers a combined ‘Wiesn Package’ for individuals from 113 euros (depending on the tent). The package includes a reservation for a seat at a Wiesn table in the festival tent (possible at lunchtime and in the evening), food and beer tokens, the current official Oktoberfest stein, tickets for one ride each on the Oktoberfest Ferris wheel and the Russnradl and a voucher for a guided tour with an official guide from the city (you can choose between tours of the Wiesn or a tour of the old town). From spring onwards, you should check the tents' websites directly to see whether the reservation option has already been activated. As soon as this is the case, you should be quick! But even shortly before the Wiesn begins, it's worth checking or asking again, as some people cancel their reservations at short notice. Once you have sent your enquiry, it's time to wait: Wait and see and don't drink any beer yet. After a few days or weeks, you will receive confirmation by email, transfer the money for the vouchers, collect tokens and, if necessary, admission wristbands from the regular pub of the respective festival host or have them sent to you. From then on, all you have to do is look forward to it!

In principle, of course: yes. However, a reservation on the first Saturday of the Oktoberfest in the Schottenhamel-Festhalle right next to the tapping box is unlikely to work out. Tables in the evening are also particularly popular at weekends and before the public holiday. It's a little easier during the week, at lunchtime and at the Oidn Wiesn.

Guests without a reservation can also hope for free tables in the beer tents. Monday to Friday, 25 per cent of all seats remain free of reservation. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, 50 per cent of seats are available until 3 pm, and after that 35 per cent. At the Oidn Wiesn, 1/3 of the seats always remain unreserved. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, 15 per cent of the reservation-free area may be reserved for Munich residents (perso: main residence in Munich)
