Traditional starting date: the first Saturday of the Oktoberfest

The parade of the landlords marks the official start of Oktoberfest. It takes place on the first Saturday of the Oktoberfest, before the famous “O'zapft is!” at noon. This is followed by the traditional costume and hunters’ parade at 10 am on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

The parade route

The march usually starts in Josephspitalstraße behind Sendlinger Tor, moves on to Sonnenstraße and turns left into Schwanthaler Straße. Here it goes straight on to Bavariaring, from where it goes directly onto Wirtsbudenstraße and into the respective marquees. In 2023, a total of about 1000 participants took part in the festive procession. While the Oktoberfest guests were eagerly awaiting the kick-off in the tents, selfies with the floats and horse-drawn carriages were diligently taken outside. At 12 o'clock on the dot, the Lord Mayor opened the Oktoberfest in the Schottenhamel Festhalle with the traditional "O'zapft is".

Route: Josephspitalstraße - Eastern Sonnenstraße - Schwanthalerstraße - Hermann-Lingg-Straße - Bavariaring - Theresienwiese - Wirtsbudenstraße
