Concert with about 300 musicians and prominent bandmasters
On the second Sunday of the Wiesn at 11 a.m. sharp, the bands of the large Wiesn festival tents opened the traditional musical highlight of the Oktoberfest. About 300 musicians provided a unique sound concert in front of the fantastic backdrop of the Bavaria. The most famous and popular Bavarian marches and songs were played. The brass band concert has been a tradition since 1985. Well-known Bavarian marches and melodies are performed by the Oktoberfest musicians.
The Wiesn celebrities, city politicians and guests of honor set the musical tempo with the conductor's baton. After the welcome by Dominik Göbl from BR, the spokesman for the Great Oktoberfest Innkeepers, Peter Inselkammer, addressed the audience with unctuous words. Afterwards, Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner conducted the Kaiserjäger March. Like all the other conductors, he was presented with the Wiesnwirte's annual mug by Franziska Inselkammer, the Münchner Kindl. Also Wiesn city councilor Anja Berger, KVR consultant Hanna Sammüller-Gradl, Norbert Grünleitner from the MVG, Peter Bausch and Robert Eckl from the Veranstaltungsgesellschaft Münchner Schausteller GmbH, all-rounder Barry Werkmeister and Michael and Clarissa Käfer had the honor of conducting the world's largest Oktoberfest band this year.
